On Friday 23 January, I gave a talk about the OpenAustralia Foundation at EverythingOpen. I'm currently chair of the board. We run Five services that help people engage more fully in Australia's special and unique Democracy.

Whilst we do manage to run on the smell of an oily rag, we need money to pay for infrastructure, and staff to keep it running, and support the volunteers whose contributions are critical to the open, transparent, participation that keeps democracies ticking.
Sad fact there are more autocracies in the world today, than democracies. So if we care about maintaining ours, we have to do so mindfully, and intentionally.
